The story behind the Adidas Nastaste

adidas nastase
Adidas Nastase is called the signature shoe of Ilie Nastase, the man known as the Bucharest Buffoon. The shoe was released in leather as well as the mesh edition and is widely liked due to the chunky outsole, the used materials and the signature logo of the man himself on the tongue.

Ilie Nastase is a Romanian tennis player known to be one of the original tennis tycoons. He has to his credit victories in tournaments like Wimbledon, US open and French open. Nastase was known not only for the grand victories but more so for his humor and hot-tempered character too. He was famous for being a bad boy and, popular with the audience for being a champion in the tennis hall of fame. Adidas rewarded him with one of the best crafted and beautiful tennis shoes ever made, certainly a shoe for a tennis hero.
The chair umpire of the ’70s and ’80s knew not to mess with “Nasty.” As I mentioned earlier, Ilie was known for his ability to win tournaments and his raucous on-court antics. His signature shoe exemplifies both sides of his personality.
The shoe features full grain leather upper, herringbone outsole for grip, padded foot bed for cushioning, the iconic 3 stripes trademark of Adidas, slight metallic edging, suede toe and Nastase branding on the tongue, heel and badge.
This sophisticated Tournament shoe was also worn by Will Arnett who is an Emmy Award-nominated Canadian actor. Will Arnett was featured in GQ magazine wearing the Adidas Originals Nastase Super Leather Shoes. Arnett has landed major film roles and has also done work as a voice over artist.
The craze for this historic shoe with European ties is evident because it is loved by one and all from “then” up-till “now”.
